Theo
Theo Carter-Weber plans, manages and delivers a variety of workshops as a freelance artist educator, also working as a guest artist and lecturer on a freelance basis. Theo enjoys working with young people and attempts to make art and explorative play accessible to those who may not usually engage with this practice, he believes in the importance of listening to young people and creating a safe space for young people to express themselves without fear of judgement.
Theo is employed by Humphry Davy School, Penzance as a pastoral care worker and at Tate St Ives as an art specialist and facilitator for their learning team.
Trained in Supporting Teaching and Learning, with a Certificate Level 3, Theo also holds an Advanced Safeguarding Level 3 and First Aid certificate. In addition, Theo is trained in APT There Must Be A Better Way, CBT Non-Suicidal Self-Injury Level 2 and ASIST Applied Suicide Intervention Skills. He holds a FGM Home Office Online Course Level 2, Food Safety and Hygiene for Catering certificate and Prevent Home Office Online Course. Theo is also trained in FA Level 1 Football Coaching Badge.
Theo’s practice explores energy and information. He creates his drawings from a place of instinct and uses playful mark-making.
Theo’s drawings are filled with narrative, often using familiar objects that invite viewers to form links to their personal life experience.
Theo is currently studying NCFE level 2 in Counselling skills with Cornwall College.
Clients include: Humphry Davy School, Nancealverne School (SEN) Tate St Ives, Hayle Youth Project, Newlyn School of Art, London College of Fashion, Kestle Barton, Newlyn gallery and the exchange, Penlee House Gallery, Penzance Youth Market, Truro shapshifting project, Orleans House Gallery, Groundwork (Hammersmith and Fulham council) and a variety of schools in London and Cornwall.
